See DESERT DREAMS on the Big Screen in Green Valley–– two shows on October 11 (4:30pm & 7:00pm)
March 23 @ 11:53 pm

See DESERT DREAMS on the Big Screen in Green Valley on Oct. 11, at 4:30pm or 7:00pm. Q&A with filmmaker. Half of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection
Without narration or people, DESERT DREAMS: Celebrating Five Seasons in the Sonoran Desert lets you experience the Sonoran Desert from the inside out. This immersive, relaxing film showcases 182 species of plants and animals through a kaleidoscope of visuals, music, and natural sounds in a cycle of five seasons: dry summer, wet summer, autumn, winter, and spring. HD video and time-lapse imagery captured over four years blend seamlessly with stills from filmmaker Thomas Wiewandt’s archive compiled over three decades. The supporting sound track combines natural sounds with world flute and percussion vignettes performed by musician Gary Stroutsos.
Over the past seven years, DESERT DREAMS has enjoyed a successful run as a fund-raising program on Public Television. And to honor its completion in 2012, we have planned two 10th Anniversary showings of DESERT DREAMS on the big screen at Green Valley’s Community Performance & Arts Center (CPAC) on October 11, 2022. Producer-Director-Cinematographer Thomas Wiewandt will be attending for a follow-up Q&A.
Half of the income from ticket sales will be donated to the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection. Working closely with Pima County, the Coalition forged the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan, winner of more than a dozen local, regional, and national awards for insightful ways to protect our natural treasures. This long-term plan is heavily focused on saving wildlife corridors and critical habitat in a growing sea of urban expansion.
