For more than 1,000 years people have lived, worked, explored, hid out in or just enjoyed this beautiful desert area. On the National Historic Register, the park show cases crystal- filled Colossal Cave and historic La Posta Quemada Ranch. Spend the day: hiking, biking, horseback riding, birding, camping, stargazing, shopping and enjoying the cave where is always a perfect 70 degrees. Kick back, relax with lunch, perhaps a local craft beer or a glass of wine, and plan your next adventure at the Cave. Treat yourself with food and beverages from the Terrace Cafe!

This half-mile long guided walk takes about 40 minutes to complete. It’s the perfect family-friendly introduction to the Cave. You’ll learn about the Cave’s history, its legends (like train robbers and ghosts), and its unique geology. As you descend approximately six stories deep (363 stair steps) you’ll see some amazing cave formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, box work, and helictites that were sculpted by millions of years of geological activity. And keep an eye out for the wildlife too!

No Children under 5 allowed on tour. Pets are not allowed on any cavern tour. Please do not leave pets in vehicles while taking a tour.
