The Historic Empire Ranch is nestled in the 45,000-acre Las Cienegas Conservation Area just North of Sonoita, AZ off Hwy 83. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There has been cattle grazing on this land since 1876 when Walter Vail purchased a 160 acre homestead and developed one of SE Arizona’s largest cattle ranches. We host monthly volunteer workdays, six yearly events, and give docent tours and presentations to clubs and schools. Plan a trip to tour the Ranch House and the Heritage Discovery Trail. Visit our Gift Shop (open most Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) where you can find unique items.
